WFAA News 8 has been serving the Dallas television market since 1949. Dallas Channel 8 is truly one of the most respected local news outfits in the entire country. Channel 8 Dallas broke the news of John F. Kennedy’s assassination, and it kept an entire nation up to speed as that tragedy unfolded. The list of famous broadcast personalities who worked with WFAA TV includes: Scott Pelley, Bill O’Reilly, Don Meredith, and Leeza Gibbons among so many others.

WFAA TV is owned by TENGA, an offshoot of the Gannet Company. It is an affiliate of the ABC network. As an affiliate, WFAA Dallas tends to focus its original news coverage on local issues during the traditional morning, mid-day, evening and late-night news slots. Dallas Channel 8 News currently airs 36 hours of station produced news broadcasts per week. Also, WFAA Sports airs two shows devoted to Dallas sports. First, there is the Dallas sports highlight program from local favorite Dale Hansen, and it’s called Dale Hansen’s Sports Special. Then, there is the show focused on Dallas high school sports called High School Sports Special.
