NBC LA has an illustrious history of broadcasting in Southern California. It went live on the air in 1949, and in the 1950s it was the flagship station for NBC’s parent company at the time RCA. KNBC LA has a very impressive list of broadcast luminaries who used to work for the station. For example, NBC Nightly News anchor Tom Brokaw started out as a reporter for KNBC from 1966. Also launching successful careers at NBC4 were Bryant Gumbel, (former Today co-host) Pat Sajak (of Wheel of Fortune fame), and Keith Morrison (Dateline).
