Here’s how to watch the Oscars live online for free or without cable this Sunday — even if you can’t get the ABC live stream in your area.

It’s Oscars time! This Sunday marks the 89th annual Academy Awards (“the Oscars” as everyone calls them).

Jimmy Kimmel will once again host the ceremony.

The movie La La Land leads the field this year with 14 nominations. That ties the record for nominations for a single film. All About Eve (1950) and Titanic (1997) also had 14 nominations.

Arrival and Moonlight are next in line, with 8 nominations each.

Lin-Manuel Miranda, Auli’i Cravalho, Sting, Justin Timberlake, and John Legend will all be performing live.

If you want to watch the Oscars online, even for free or without cable, you have a few different options.

2017 Oscars Live Stream

The ceremony starts at 8:00 PM EST. ABC will live stream the Oscars this year, both on their website and on the Watch ABC app.

Go here to watch the Oscars live stream on ABC.

Note that ABC’s live stream will only be available in a handful of US cities (Chicago, Fresno, Houston, Los Angeles, New York City, Philadelphia, Raleigh-Durham, San Francisco). So if you’re not in one of the approved areas, see below for how to get access.

Also, note that you will have to log in with a TV provider. If you don’t have one, see below for how to live stream the Oscars without cable.

Watch The Oscars Live Stream On ABC In Any City

You can watch the Oscars live stream on ABC from any city in the country. You just need to bypass ABC’s location-detectors.

For step-by-step help, see: How To Watch ABC’s Live Stream Anywhere.

You can do this to watch the Oscars live online on ABC.com, or with the Watch ABC app.

More Ways To Watch 2017 Oscars Live Online — Free, Without Cable

You can also live stream the Oscars without cable and for free — but stay away from those scummy “free live TV!!!” sites. There’s a better way.

You can use Kodi to watch the Oscars (plus lots of other live events and TV shows) live online for free. What is Kodi? Briefly, it’s a media player you can use to stream TV from the internet.

One note — whether Kodi is legal is an issue of debate. Yes, the networks frown upon watching their content for free. Hey, I’m not here to judge. But it is highly recommended you use a VPN with Kodi to stay private and secure.

To see what you can watch on Kodi, and how to get started, check out our beginner’s guide on how to use Kodi. If you already use it and need help finding sources to stream TV on Kodi, check out our list of the best Kodi add-ons. This includes some great sources to watch events like the Oscars.

Live Stream Oscars Red Carpet

Before the official ceremony starts at 8 PM, you can also live stream Oscars red carpet arrivals. First, starting at 7:00 PM EST, you can watch ABC’s red carpet coverage live online on ABC.com or the WatchABC app. Again, if you can’t get the ABC live stream in your area, see above for how to get access.

At 7:30 PM, E! will begin its Oscars red carpet show on E! Live 360. E! Live 360 is “a totally immersive experience that puts you in the heart of all the red carpet action.” You can find it on the E! News app, or you can live stream E!’s red carpet coverage on their website.
