How To Watch MLB Live Streams — Even For Free Or Without Cable

By Jeremy Evans / April 4, 2017 / Tags: , ,

Here’s how to live stream MLB baseball — even if you don’t have cable or want to live stream games for free.

Whether you have cable or not, you’ll probably want to live stream an MLB game sometime this season. But figuring out the options, and which ones are the best for you, can be confusing and time-consuming.

This article cuts through the clutter and condenses the choices. Even if you don’t have cable/satellite TV, or want to watch for free, there’s a good option available. Here you go.

Live Stream Every MLB Game Without Cable

The best way to watch MLB live online without needing any other TV subscription is with MLB.TV. This is the MLB’s official streaming service. It will let you stream games all around the league, both live and on-demand.

There’s a huge catch though — your home team’s games will be blacked out. You only get access to the out-of-market games. Games that are regionally or nationally televised are also blacked out.

How To Avoid MLB.TV Blackouts

The good news is there’s an easy workaround. In order to be able to watch every game live, you just need to bypass the blackouts on MLB.TV. Once you do this, you can live stream all the games — in-market and out-of market — now through the World Series, including local and nationally televised games.

More Ways To Watch MLB Live Streams Without Cable

If a game you want to stream requires login with a TV provider, but you don’t have one, there are a couple other ways you can get access besides MLB.TV.

First, you can use fuboTV. FuboTV has expanded to cover all major sports, and live streams lots of MLB baseball games. You can get a 7-day free trial. To see which games are streaming live on fuboTV today, go here.

YouTube TV will also let you live stream games on ESPN, FOX Sports, and over a dozen other sports channels. It’s only available in a couple of cities right now, but there is a way around this. See how to get YouTube TV in any location.

Watch MLB Live Online For Free

You can also live stream MLB games for free — but stay away from those scummy, ad-clogged “free live sports!!!” sites. There’s a better way.

You can use Kodi to watch virtually every MLB game live online for free (plus lots of other sports). What is Kodi? Briefly, it’s a media player you can use to stream live sports and other content from the internet.

One note — whether Kodi is legal is an issue of debate. Yes, the networks and league frown upon watching their content for free. Hey, I’m not here to judge. But it is highly recommended you use a VPN with Kodi to stay private and secure.

If you already use it and need help finding the best sources to stream live sports on Kodi, see our list of the best Kodi add-ons. This includes some excellent options to stream live US sports, including MLB baseball.

Bypass MLB Blackouts

If a game you want to stream is blacked out in your market on a streaming service like MLB.TV, FuboTV, Sling TV, or PlayStation Vie there is a way to bypass the blackouts and get access.

See How To Avoid MLB TV Blackouts. This works to watch games that are under a local/regional blackout, as well as regional and national blackout games (those that are televised on national TV).

Watch MLB Live Streams From Anywhere

If you want to use a streaming service that isn’t available in your area, you can bypass the geo-blockers and get access.

See How To Unblock Live Sports Streams Everywhere. Note that this does not bypass login requirements — only to get around location restrictions.

Live Stream MLB If You Have Cable

If you have a cable or satellite TV subscription, you can use it to access MLB live streams on broadcasters’ websites, including ESPN, TBS, Fox Sports, and others. This won’t get you all the games, but you’ll be able to watch the marquee matchups.

You may also be able to stream live games directly through your TV provider, depending on who you have, so their streaming availability.

Wrap Up

That should have you covered, no matter where or how you want to live stream MLB baseball. Check out our sports streaming guide for more details on the various streaming services.
